Director 7.0 introduced Quads, a sprite property that allowed bitmap rectangles to be stretched and manipulated.
This feature allowed for the further development of 3D.

DUNGEON & DUNGEON MP 04.AUG.1999
Spurred on by the ever increasing uses of Quads, this is a demo to illustrate the possibilities of producing a FPS in SW. Lots of dodgy graphics, NPC's and all sorts of other cosmetic bugs, but still it works well. For its time it was way ahead of the field written purely in lingo and using Quads.

DUNGEON MULTI-PLAYER introduces a multi-player version of Dungeon, where upto 8 players can log on, chat and shoot each other. No guarantee the server is up for this version however.

TAXI DRIVER 04.AUG.1999
Once Director offered Quads and the possibility of 3D I decided to convert the Levis game from the fake 2.5D of the original into a true 3D environment. So the map is the same, but this time its played in third person view. The city is populated with other cars, and you can basically just race around it.
TRON LIGHT CYCLES 24.APR.1999
Initial tests into producing a light cycle game in D7. The 'Launch DCR' button will open the single player version, but a two player split screen is also available.

Single player Password = BABYLON
Gold star if you know the relationship between password and Tron.
SONIC RUSH RACERS [ original test ] 11.MAR.1999
This was the first version of Sonic Rush Racers. Very rough, but designed to see just how far Director could be pushed at the time. The original base spec was around 233Mhz PC, so it pretty much flies along nowadays.

SRR was picked up by Freeloader.com, and now SRR 2 resides on their servers proving to be one of the most popular SW games they have.

VISUAL FX BOX 24.APR.1999
Using NCP SW Buffer concept to allow mapping of Flash and Quicktime onto basic 3D model - cube.
Lots of other silly effects, and really just a testbed for possibilities.

NOTE: The QT xtra is required and should automatically download for you.

3D WORLD [ Terrain modeling ] 11.MAR.1999
Terrain created from a greyscale image (height map)
Buildings and tress randomly placed
UFO ASSAULT 03.MAR.1999
An offshoot of the Clyde River racing movie. You take control of a UFO and must destroy the enemy UFO's flying towards you, and which explode into polygon fragments. Not a game more a test of a 3D shooter in 3D.
QUAD 3D 22.FEB.1999
Early development of a 3D engine utilizing Quads to render the models.

Sample models include a Face, Tanks, flying saucers, lamps, etc.

CLYDE: RIVER RACING 12.FEB.1999
This was part of a development for a museum installation that went of on its own. In turn it led to UFO assault and SRR. Nice wave lapping on the river banks though.
EXPLODING TEXT 15.SEPT.1999
An example of a behaviour for exploding lines of text
DNA GLUE L-SYSTEM 12.AUG.1998
DNA glue was an early attempt to explore the use of L-Systems in a 3D environment to create organic images. However as this was way before SW3D or even Quads, it meant i had to rely on an ugly comination of using VRML, with a VRML browser. Needless to say it never progressed to far, but hopefully with SW3D I will retrun to the project.

For now you can examine a collection of interresting screenshots from the VRML viewer.
